Rtn. Dr. S.V.S. Rao

District Governor 2016-17

Dr. S.V.S. Rao was born in 1960 in Yeleswaram, East Godavari District to late Dr. Sakhireddy Veerabhadra Rao and Smt. Saraswathi. He graduated from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and took his M.S. (Surgery) and M.Ch. (Urology) degrees from the same institute. Dr. Rao started his professional career from Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. He also worked as WHO research associate in male infertility.

At present he is practicing as urologist in his own 50-bed Sudha Urology Hospital, Kakinada. Dr. Rao was a member of the GSE team to Dist 6070, Missouri, USA. He was a charter member of Rotary Club of Kakinada Golden Jubilee in 1995 and served as President in 1996-97. He was the Founder President of Rotary Blood Bank, Kakinada, and former Chairman of Rotary Old Age Home. He is a strong supporter of Rotary Foundation and he is not only a major donor, and benefactor, but also his all family members are Paul Harris Fellows. At district level he worked as Pulse Polio Coordinator in 1997-99, 1998-99, 2000-01.

He served as co-chair and coordinator Rotary Foundation, health camps, TB control, AIDS prevention. On the prefessional front, he received best paper and best poster awards in A.P. Society of Genito-Urinary Surgeons. He was awarded fellowship in minimal access surgery, FMAS, and fellowship in Indian Association of Gastro-intestinal Endo Surgery (IAGES). He presented and published many research papers in national and international conferences and journals. He is an active member of American Urological Association (AUA), International Society of Urology (SIU), Indian Society of Organ Transplantation. On the social front, he worked as State President, A.P. Nursing Homes Association (APNA), as President of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Kakinada Branch and as President, APNA District Branch.

He visited many countries and conventions like USA, UK, Canada, China, Hongkong, Dubai, Singapore, Turkey, Thailand, SriLanka and Pakistan. Rao is happily married to Ramalakshmi, a postgraduate in business administration, and blessed with two sons, Vineet, a surgeon, and Venkat Veer, a medico. Dr.S.V.S.Rao was elected as District Governor for R.I.Dist.3020 for the year 2016-17.
