Answering a need for a new Rotary Club in the city for the younger generation of businessmen and professionals, the Rotary Club of Vijayawada Mid - Town came into being on 12th December, 1984. It was the idea of the then District Governor G. Mangaraj to promote a new rotary club comprising young members and drafted Rtn. Aki Anjaneyulu for the job. The credit for all the hard work and imagination that go into formation of the new club belongs to Rtn. Aki Anjaneyulu, the Governor's Special Representative. The venerable member of Rotary Club of Vijayawada left no stone unturned in ensuring a quality membership coming from diverse professions, vocations and backgrounds.

Since, Rotary Club of Vijayawada Mid Town was started in 1985 and it is a Largest in the world with 792 members. Our club members include Doctors in various specialties, Engineers, advocates, Charted Accountants, Income Tax Professionals & Various Business Entrepreneurs who are extending their support to help the poor and to needy in different ways, Fun, Frolic and fellowship which are hall marks of this exciting club seamlessly merge with our motto of service above self.

We meet every Sunday in Taj Gateway Hotel at 10 AM for our weekly meeting. We invite prominent people or leaders in their profession as speakers to our meetings, to motivate our members to participate in service to the community and also to enhance their knowledge in education, health, vocations & society.

Some of the eminent speakers who visited our club are Sri Nadendla Manohar, Sri Jayaprakesh Narayan, Sri Undavalli Arun Kumar, Sri Yandamuri Veerendranath, Sri Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao, Sri Garikapati Narasimha rao, Padma Bhushan Sri Pullela GopiChand, Sri J D Lakshmi Narayana, Sri V V S Laxman, Smt Jwala Gutta, Sri Ashok Reddy, President Cyient Technology etc.,

Our Club in Club Concept

1)Mid Town Cricket Club - Mid Town Rotarian cricket enthusiasm have lot of fun playing cricket every week end. There are currently 60 members mid – towners involved in this hobby.

2)Mid Town Badminton Club - Mid Town Rotarian Badminton enthusiasm have lot of fun playing Badminton every week end.

3)Mid Town Music Club - Mid Town Rotarian Music enthusiasm have lot of fun singing in both Classical & Modern.

4)RMB ( Rotary Mean Business)- We have started Mid Town charter RMB with 180 plus member with concept of bringing & doing business also forwarding the business lead along RMB members ONLY.
